Throughout this paper the reader will find a description about how the internet has evolved during the last years focused on how it has profited time saving in many ways, focusing specially in job seeking apps. It has been determined, as well, how the user behaves through the internet and what for are the most commonly apps in their devices for. The focus of this research is getting to know as thoroughly as possible what the main appealing factors of this sector are in order to identify the possible weaknesses that prevent this sector from reaching its maximum potential. In order to gain insight about the actual businesses and customers, in the descriptive part of this research project, questionnaires have been made to 50 people to obtain information directly from the user. This descriptive part has its basis in the exploratory one that gives insight about the situation of mobile recruiting platforms and how companies are still lagging behind concerning recruitment through new technologies. One of the main findings of this research is that costumers really appreciate the fact that job seeking apps keep things simple and fast, in order to take profit from them and make the most of their spare time looking for a job

Measuring inequality and dependences between income sources with administrative data and survey data

Producción CientíficaThis paper aims at analyzing the effects of changing from survey to administrative data on inequality and its structure. Taking advantage of the Spanish Survey on Income and Living Conditions (ECV) that continued asking households for their income despite assigning them the income data provided by the Tax Agency and the Social Security administration, different analyses are carried out. By using copula functions we pay special attention to the effect on the dependences between income sources. We find a significant growth in the disposable income of households when using administrative data. The incomes of both tails of the distribution increase considerably more than middle incomes, and administrative data produce significantly lower levels of inequality. Using administrative instead of survey data also gives rise to changes in the structure of inequality by income sources, rising the contribution of capital income. Both methods of data collection also produce significant differences in the observed dependences between income sources.Economía Aplicad

A note on nonparametric estimation of copula-based multivariate extensions of Spearman’s rho

Producción CientíficaSchmid and Schmidt (2007) proposed copula-based nonparametric estimators for some multivariate extensions of Spearman’s rho. In this paper, we show that two of those estimators are inappropriate since they can take values out of the parameter space and we discuss alternative proposals.Ministerio de Economía, Industria y Competitividad (ECO2012-32178)Ministerio de Economía, Industria y Competitividad (ECO2012-32401)Junta de Castilla y León (programa de apoyo a proyectos de investigación – Ref. The impact of different data sources on the level and structure of income inequality

This paper aims to analyze the effect on measured inequality and its structure of using administrative data instead of survey data. Different analyses are carried out based on the Spanish Survey on Income and Living Conditions (ECV) that continued to ask households for their income despite assigning their income data as provided by the Tax Agency and the Social Security Administration. Our main finding is that the largest discrepancies between administrative and survey data are in the tails of the distribution. In addition to that, there are clear differences in the level and structure of inequality across data sources. These differences matter, and our results should be a wake-up call to interpret the results based on only one source of income data with caution

Do young insured drivers slow down after suffering an accident?

Being involved in an accident may modify the behavior of an insured at the wheel due to their having an aggravated perception of risk. Here, we analyze how the behavior of young drivers is modified after an accident by comparing percentage distances driven above posted speed limits before and after the event. The possibilities afforded by telematics, in terms of gathering information about such variables as speeding, undoubtedly constitute an important step forward in quantifying effects that hitherto have gone unanalyzed in the field of road safety and car insurance. Our results show a greater reduction in the speeding of young drivers that suffer severe bodily injuries, especially in the case of men and, particularly, among those that committed more frequent speed violations prior to the accident

Using GPS data to analyze the distance traveled to the first accident at fault in pay-as-you-drive insurance

In this paper we employ survival analysis methods to analyse the impact of driving patterns on distance travelled before a first claim is made by young drivers underwriting a pay-as-you-drive insurance scheme. An empirical application is presented in which we analyse real data collected by a GPS system from a leading Spanish insurer. We show that men have riskier driving patterns than women and, moreover, that there are gender differences in the impact driving patterns have on the risk of being involved in an accident. The implications of these results are discussed in terms of the 'no-gender' discrimination regulation
